Paint it Purple for Pandora

 When Kerri McAuley, a 32-year-old mother of two from Norwich, was attacked by her abusive boyfriend, it was her hairdresser she confided in.  She was killed in early 2017.

At Pandora Project, we recognise the importance of educating and empowering those working within the hair and beauty industry, and acknowledge the vital role that these people play in raising awareness of domestic abuse and supporting women who are experiencing it.

This SeptemberPandora Project will be celebrating its 8th birthday.  As part of our month-long celebrations, we will be launching a ‘Paint it Purple for Pandora’ campaign when we will be working alongside hair salons and nail bars to raise awareness of who Pandora Project are and what we do to support women and children affected by domestic abuse.

During the month of September, we are asking salons to join us by:

Displaying a ‘Paint it Purple for Pandora’ poster in your window;

Promoting the colour purple to your clients (for their hair and nails!) and pledging to donate £1 per purple treatment to Pandora Project.

 Using the hashtag #PaintItPurplePandora when sharing images of your clients!

Pandora Project will be providing salons with a donation jar for the duration of the month of September, together with some purple ribbons which can be sold to clients.

We will be sharing pictures of clients’ purple treatments/ colour over our social media channels so that together we paint it purple!  We hope that in this very simple way, we can work together to promote and support a great cause and local charity.

Look out for King’s Lynn Town Hall and Corn Exchange lit up in purple on the 13th September to mark Pandora’s 8th birthday.

We will be running Domestic Abuse Awareness Training for anybody in this industry via Teams.  This would include how to spot the signs and how to handle a disclosure.
