Exciting announcement

We are very excited to announce that we have been granted funding from The National Lottery Community Fund, the largest funder of community activities in the UK, to support children and young people affected by domestic abuse in West Norfolk and the coastal part of North Norfolk. We will receive £272,966 over 3 years.

Domestic abuse is endemic in our society, one in four women will be affected by domestic abuse in their lifetime and children are innocent victims.

This funding will help to make an enormous difference to young people’s lives, helping them to recover from the trauma of domestic abuse. They will learn how to keep themselves safe and have the skills and knowledge to recognise positive relationships.

A huge thank you to all the players of the National Lottery for making this happen.

We will work with young people age 5-18 who have been affected by domestic abuse, living in West Norfolk and coastal North Norfolk. Meeting up with them weekly in schools, we will talk through their experiences of witnessing abuse and will offer practical and emotional support. For children and young people still living in an abusive household, we will work on safety plans with the non-abusive parent and partnership work with other agencies to keep them safe. In meetings with other professionals, our workers will be an advocate for our young clients, to ensure that their voice is heard. Children will have a safe space to talk about their emotions and experiences and they will learn that the abuse was not their fault. They will have a better understanding of healthy/unhealthy relationships, behaviour at home and school with improve, self-harm and violent outbursts will improve, confidence and self-esteem will increase. We aim to break the cycle of abuse.
